Ah, these theme parks thrive on building a sense of anticipation … teasing fans about the next big thing. This time it’s SeaWorld.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, a major redevelopment is underway. Several new attractions are planned for 2012 and 2013: a new ride to replace Penguin Encounter, a new sea-turtle movie experience, a rainforest-themed trail at Discovery Cove.
Work is in progress for the Polar Express Experience, an overlay of the Wild Arctic simulator ride. SeaWorld’s Christmas-themed attractions will run on select nights between Nov. 25 and Dec. 31.
Earlier this month, the Orlando Sentinel reported that plans were leaked through government filings and interviews. Officials confirmed that new attractions were in the works, but would not release details.
The popularity of SeaWorld and Discovery Cove are being challenged by the popularity of Universal Orlando and its Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and newly opened Legoland Florida.
