Orlando’s International Drive Reaches for the Sky

The sky-high attractions along International Drive keep on coming and thrill seekers will be in their glory!

Just announced is the Sky Flyer, a 420-foot swinging thrill ride that will be part of the new Vue at 360, currently Kings Plaza. According to Orlando My Way:

The ride will nearly match the height of the Orlando Eye and will take 24 people up in the air at once for a three- to four-minute experience, which includes a 360-degree view of Orlando. It is scheduled to open in 2016. The ride will top out at 40 mph.

The attraction is being billed as the world’s tallest swinging ride. It joins the Orlando Eye, the 400-foot tall observational wheel nearing completion, which will open in spring 2015.

And details were reported by Local 6 Theme World on the world’s tallest roller coaster. The Skyscraper will be 535 feet tall and accommodate 1,000 riders per hour at speeds up to 65 mph. It’s considered a Polarcoaster in that the cars wrap around the central towering pole. The Skyscraper’s developers will break ground in 2015 and open in 2017.

This video simulation makes the almost-4 minute ride seem pretty intense!
