Legoland Florida To Add New Hotel

The new hotel planned for Legoland Florida will encourage visitors to spend more time in the Winter Park area.

Legoland Florida is planning a 152-room hotel overlooking Lake Eloise, famed for the water-skiing shows during the days of Cypress Gardens. Completion is expected for 2015.

The hotel is the fifth for the Legoland franchise; others are located in California, England, and Denmark with one under construction in Malaysia. It will have Legoland’s signature brightly colored block appearance. The rooms will be an extension of the park with colorful decor, highly themed suites, interactive play areas, pool and restaurant.

According to officials, it’s hoped that a hotel will encourage people to spend more time in the Winter Haven area, which is about 50 miles from Walt Disney World. It’s also hoped that additional hotels, restaurants, and tourism companies will be attracted to the area. Legoland Florida opened in 2011.

Legoland is located on the site of the former Cypress Gardens, known for its water skiing performances and botanical gardens. It has already expanded twice since its opening; recent additions include a Star Wars themed area and an interactive play area based on the Legend of Chima products.

The hotel will be similar in appearance to the one in California, but is expected to have some different features.
