Fun Spot America Joins Expansion Frenzy

Not to be left behind amid all the expansion (and attendant admission increases) at Walt Disney World, Universal, and now SeaWorld and Busch Garden, Fun Spot America is celebrating its 15th birthday with the grand opening of several new attractions.’s Local 6 Theme World posted photos and details, which represents a three-fold expansion of the park.

The highlight is a new coaster, the White Lightning, which is a steel-wood hybrid, described by Ken Pilcher as “2,000 feet of track that is one wild and fast ride.”

There’s also the Freedom Flyer, a 1,200-foot family friendly suspension coaster that has no inversions. For the more daring, the Sky Coaster, at the center of the park, is 250 feet tall, perched atop the Sky Diner.

With admission costs approaching $100 per person, Fun Spot has free admission to the park itself although an “unlimited armband” with all-day riding privileges costs $40 ($30 for those under 54 inches).
