Details on Universal’s Harry Potter Expansion

They don’t call Robert Niles the Theme Park Insider for nothing!

In a new post in his Blog Flume, he shares some really good details about the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando, subtitled Diagon Alley at Universal Studios.

He says the new attraction will raise the bar set by the original WWHP “a notch higher.”

Diagon Alley, he says, will be hidden behind the facades of Grimmauld Place, Wyndham’s Theatre, and other west end London landmarks, accessible through a secret entrance through Leicester Square station, next to the Leaky Cauldron, which will be the new land’s restaurant.

There are multiple levels to the experience with elevated train trestles. stairways and multi-story facades. Niles also mentions multiple theaters for Ollivander’s show and shops such as Madam Malkin’s Robes, Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor, Weasley’s Wizard Wheeses, as well as Knockturn Alley for the Slytherins.

Then, of course, there’s the main attraction, Gringotts coaster, plus the Hogwarts Express train connection from Islands of Adventure.

Niles even giddily cites an anticipated opening date: July 2014.
