Details, Details: Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando

The cat’s out of the bag, all of it, and your fate is in the hands of Lady Luck.

Universal Orlando Resorts has finally released all the details of this year’s Halloween Horror Nights, a little less than three weeks before the annual event opens on Sept. 23. The dates include Sept. 23-24, 29-30, Oct. 1-2, 6-9, 13-16, 19-23 and 26-31.

Self-described as nation’s premier Halloween event, this year’s frightfest features eight all-new haunted houses: Nightingale Blood Prey; The In-Between; The Forsaken; Nevermore: The Madness of Poe; H.R. Blodengutz Presents: Holidays of Horror; Saws N’ Steam: Into the Machine; The Thing, and Winter’s Night: The Haunting of Hawthorn Cemetary (sic).

There are six “electrifying” scare zones: Acid Assault; Canyon of Dark Souls; Grown Evil; 7; Nightmaze; and Your Luck Has Ran (sic) Out.

Two live shows are also part of HHN, which is heading for its 21st year: Bill and Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure and Death Drums.

Of course, there are the rides at Universal Orlando Resorts that complement the experience: Revenge of the Mummy; The Simpson Ride; Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit; Jaws; and Men in Black Alien Attack.

Teasers started in early August with “The Thing” theme, casino and betting hints, and online games.

In addition to special admission prices (which vary and start at $81.99) and enhancements, Universal is offering “Gory Getaway” vacation packages, which include three nights’ accommodations, two-day base ticket to both Universal Orlando theme parks, one-night admission to Halloween Horror Nights, access to entertainment at CityWalk and a souvenir photograph, starting at $325 per adult with upgrades available and special prices for Florida residents.

“But be careful what you wager,” warns the web site, “because at Halloween Horror Nights 21, nobody beats the house.”
