The Resort Hotels –
Orientation to Portofino Bay Hotel

Portofino Bay Hotel is located at the corner of Kirkman and Vineland Roads, but it turns its back to those streets and looks out on its own artificial harbor and across to Universal’s Hard Rock Hotel and the theme parks beyond. The sole vehicular entrance is on Universal Boulevard near the Vineland Road entrance. You can also arrive by boat from CityWalk or walk onto the hotel property either from CityWalk and the Hard Rock Hotel or from Universal Boulevard.

The hotel wraps around “Portofino Bay,” a small man-made harbor dotted with fishing boats and dinghies. A large open piazza faces the Bay and forms the focal point for the entire establishment. Most of the eateries and many of the shops face the piazza and the Bay.

The hotel’s East Wing runs down one side of the Bay and the West Wing occupies the other, forming a rough “U.” The section at the bottom of the “U” houses the hotel’s main lobby area. Behind this, away from the Bay, are the extensive meeting rooms and banquet halls; they are located in such a way that vacationers and convention-goers need seldom cross paths or rub shoulders, except perhaps in the restaurants. Jutting out from the West Wing is the Villa Wing offering larger rooms and easy access to the hotel’s nicest pools and its spa facilities.

There is a downside to the layout, which is that your room can be quite a distance from the lobby and some of the hotel amenities.
