The friendly folks at Guest Services can answer just about any question you have. If you have a problem or complaint while in the parks, seek out the Guest Services office at the front of the park (in the Front Lot at USF and in Port of Entry at IOA). If you have a question you can call (407) 224-4233 and press "3," to speak with a Guest Services representative.
Boozers rejoice! Three bars inside Universal Orlando's parks and many of CityWalk's drinking establishments, offer generous happy hours. Times vary with the season. Some places may have happy hour from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., while others will run from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. What's available at what price also varies, but typical options inside the parks are $3.50 domestic draft beers ($6.25 imports) and $4 well mixed drinks ($6.50 doubles); two-for-one deals can frequently be had in CityWalk. Drink discounts inside the parks may be restricted to Annual Passholders or suspended entirely during special events and peak periods.
Height Restrictions and Other Warnings
Due to a variety of considerations, such as sudden movements and the configuration of lap restraints, some rides will be off-limits to shorter (typically younger) guests. The following rides have minimum height requirements:
E.T. Adventure (USF) ... 34 in. (86.4 cm.)
Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster (USF) ... 36 in. (91.4 cm.)
Flight of the Hippogriff (IOA) ... 36 in. (91.4 cm.)
Pteranodon Flyers (IOA) ... 36 in. (91.4 cm.)
Despicable Me (USF) ... 40 in. (101.6 cm.)
The Simpsons Ride (USF) ... 40 in. (101.6 cm.)
Transformers (USF) ... 40 in. (101.6 cm.)
High in Sky Seuss Ride (IOA) ... 40 in. (101.6 cm.)
Spider-Man (IOA) ... 40 in. (101.6 cm.)
Men In Black (USF) ... 42 in. (106.7 cm.)
Jurassic Park River Adventure (IOA) ... 42 in. (106.7 cm.)
Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges ... (IOA) 42 in. (106.7 cm.)
Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls ... (IOA) 44 in. (111.8 cm.)
Revenge of the Mummy ... (USF) 48 in. (121.9 cm.)
Forbidden Journey (IOA) ... 48 in. (121.9 cm.)
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit (USF) ... 51 in. (130 cm.)
Doctor Doom's Fearfall (IOA) ... 52 in. (131.1 cm.)
Incredible Hulk & Dragon Challenge (IOA) ... 54 in. (137.2 cm.)
In addition, any child under 48 inches must be accompanied by an adult on all rides and must be able to sit upright without help. Stationary seating is available at Despicable Me, Shrek 4-D, Terminator 2:3-D and Twister for guests who don't meet the height requirement, or anyone who doesn't want to be shaken, bumped, or dropped. Parents of small kids trying to decide between the two parks should note that IOA has 11 height-restricted rides to USF's 8, and has higher average minimums, although IOA also has more playgrounds.
Height requirements will also be noted in the following chapters at the start of each applicable attraction's description. Another problem may be encountered by taller and heavier guests. Forbidden Journey, the roller coasters, and Doctor Doom's Fearfall employ state-of-the-art harness-like contraptions to make sure that you don't go flying off into space. Unfortunately, not everyone fits into them. Anyone with a chest measurement over 50 inches may have difficulty fitting into the harness and at 54 inches (137.2 cm.) you can pretty much forget about it. Height is less of a problem (they say basketball players have ridden) but some extremely tall individuals may also be out of luck, especially at Rip Ride Rockit, which has a 79-inch height limit. Some attractions have designated seats designed to accommodate larger riders; ask an attendant for details.
All rides with restrictive restraints provide a sample seat outside so you can check to see if you'll fit. These, by the way, also offer great photo ops.
